Why do people never get that if there was such a difference between analog and digital gear, most people wouldn't be using v-synths? A light reverb or an EQ will smoothen out the differences. And if your mix doesn't sound great on cheap earphones then re-mix - how many people really listen to music through studio monitors?
If expensive equipment was the key to pro recordings, then there would be no studio engineers. Cheap gear doesn't stop you making good songs - it only makes that process a bit harder.
